Recently, the Chibi Water Management Supervision Brigade received reports from the masses that some people in the lower reaches of Lushui River illegally extracted sand. After receiving the report, the Municipal Water Administration Supervision Brigade immediately mobilized patrol boats and law enforcement vehicles to conduct patrol inspections along the lower reaches of Lushui River. Suspicious sand mining vessels were found in the section of Lushui River's Weidong Village. The Water Administration Supervision Brigade passed an on-site inspection and confirmed that it is a privately modified vessel without a sand mining license. There is also a sand mining yard on the shore. According to relevant laws and regulations, the river sands that have been mined are sealed, the illegal sand mining equipment is demolished, and the sand mining vessels are towed and dismantled.
After investigation, this sand mining vessel was suspected of illegally excavating pits and quarrying sand in the lower reaches of the Lushui River, and its behavior was suspected of violating the "Water Law of the People's Republic of China", "Regulations of the People's Republic of China on River Management" and "Sand Mining of Rivers in Hubei Province" Administrative Measures "and other relevant laws and regulations. The case is currently under investigation.
Illegal sand mining seriously affects river ecology, navigation, navigation channels, and flood control safety. For this reason, Chibi City has maintained a high-pressure blow for a long time. Adopting a combination of daily management and centralized rectification, combined with regular inspections and surprise inspections to strengthen sandway mining management, and resolutely crack down on illegal sand mining activities in accordance with the law. At present, illegal sand mining in the waters and rivers under the jurisdiction of Chibi City has been clearly curbed, and the management of sand mining has been transformed from disorder to governance.
